I just watched a heartwarming video about a piano exercise being the Best News in the World.

Lovely story, isn’t it?  But I just realized that there’s a deeper lesson.  When he played the scale from top to bottom, it was in the proper order, but it still didn’t have any meaning for him.  He got frustrated, tired of messing with it, and gave up.

How many times do we get –that close- to hearing God’s direction, but give up because it’s just taking too much time?  And we have Things To Do, don’t we?

Isn’t it significant that the thing he was missing was the pauses?

How often to do I forget to pause?  Can I lose the meaning in life by leaving out the pauses?  The extended notes and rests give a piece of music its character and significance.

It is the same in life.  Sometimes we need to sit and reflect in order to hear God’s voice.  Sometimes we need to hold the note, so to speak, before the whole sequence of events begins to make sense.

Listen to the Master Conductor.

And don’t forget the pauses.

I'm a wonderer. I spend a lot of time mulling, pondering, and cogitating. This is just a place to park some of those thoughts.
