Interesting Quote

Just as eating against one’s will is injurious to health, so study without

a liking for it spoils the memory, and it retains nothing it takes in.

~ Leonardo Da Vinci

Is this true?  If you are made to study things which are not interesting to you, does it make you less likely to have a good memory?

What do you think?

I'm a wonderer. I spend a lot of time mulling, pondering, and cogitating. This is just a place to park some of those thoughts.

  1. If you’re interested in a topic, you concentrate easier, meaning your mind makes vivid mental pictures.  Otherwise, it’s just words.  Autodidacts may be the exception.  But Da Vinci was a genius; when he spoke, people listened and learned.

Yeah, I’m a huge fan of da Vinci, and anxiously awaiting the Machines in Motion museum exhibit, which comes to our area in September.

Never heard of that, but of course, he was a genius ~ I can’t argue much with geniuses ~

  4. Yep…gotta agree with Leo.  I have learned that memorizing is pointless.  It is retaining the information and then applying it to our daily lives is what learning is all about.
