You Walk Wrong

I just found an article that I thought was totally fascinating.  Since I have always been a barefoot girl, I was amen-ing all the way.  And I really loved the diagram on the 5th page that shows the difference between how you walk with shoes and how you walk without.  I thought it was quite inspiring, and I am very excited to find out that expensive exercise shoes may actually do more harm than good.

I'm a wonderer. I spend a lot of time mulling, pondering, and cogitating. This is just a place to park some of those thoughts.

doesn’t it just slay you how drs and some mothers insist in high priced shoes for their babies to learn to walk in?!  as if God made a mistake having us born barefoot!

Thanks for sharing this. No wonder I like to go barefoot (or flip flops) most of the time 🙂

  4. Do my comfy, bedroom slippers count??  I love wearing them!!

Really interesting article.  Thanks for sharing it.  I hear that flip-flops are very bad for feet, so I am sorry the article didn’t address them.  (BTW, I looked up those Vivo shoes and they are very expensive!)

It did mention the problem of switching to flip-flops after a winter of heeled shoes, but it sounded more like the heels were the problem rather than the flip-flops.  I wondered about that, too.

I love your message because I’m a barefoot gal too. When my babies were little I took them everywhere barefoot, even to church. I had a Doctor cousin with a large family who commented years ago that it was healthier for children to go barefoot. His children ran barefoot a lot and I figured if the Dr’s kids could then it must be good for the rest of us. Shoes are something to wear when leaving home but even at someone else’s house my shoes quite often come off. When we have a house full of company the women will often kick their shoes off.

I loved walking barefoot when I was younger, but one summer I was on my feet all day in flip flops preparing for a camping trip and I ended up with plantar facitis.  I had to wear arch supports to get over it.  I haven’t read the article, perhaps it will say my arches wouldn’t have been weak if I hadn’t been wearing shoes all my life.  We never used those shoes on our babies (previous comment).  Quartus was sixteen months old before we put shoes on him and we have a video of him trying his first steps.  Funny.I was going to reply to your last comment and I accidentally pushed the delet button.  I wanted to say, it is intense like boot camp.  The readers often resent the return to basics, but there is a little boy in there now who is nine and never read.  He has read four Bob books.

I Love My Flip Flops!!  LOL   I bet my feet will be great…as a kid growing up I was always barefoot. My mom couldent under stand how I could always run around like that, she called me a TomBoy.

  10. I just did an edit on the Old Lady post. You’ve GOT to hear Guestbrief’s daughter remake of this song. I laughed SOOOO hard!

So ~ now I feel better about doing T-Tapp barefooted which is the way I like to do it but felt guilty! Thanks.

@lookin4Jesus – you’re a T-Tapper?    I posted it on their forums, too, but it was quickly moved from “Discussion” to “Off-Topic.”   Wonder why?
