The reward for conformity was that everyone liked you except yourself.-Rita Mae Brown, writer (1944- )
true? or not?
Good quote! It always amuses me when teens try to show their “individuality” by looking and acting like other people! 🙄
That quote is true. To lose one’s self to the conformity of others is sad … and ultimately lonely.
Interesting ~ do we need to think about it with the verses Romans 8:29 and 12:2?
I think that’s one person we SHOULD be conformed to, fwren. Of course, we can never do it on our own–only HE can conform us to himself!
I do think that trying to conform to other people is usually a rather empty effort. It usually makes one either ridiculous or obsequious, neither of which inspires confidence or makes one attractive.
Think of the people you particularly enjoy and admire. Isn’t it usually because they are just…themselves?
Happy 4th… I’m back in town for 2 days and scrambling to catch up! Hope the boys got signed up for camp!
Did you go to J.B. and T.Y.’s wedding?
J.B. is my cousin in law’s neice. I remember her when she was a little girl, but haven’t seen her for a long time.
I like that quote a lot!
RYC: You’re dead wrong, though it’s a very common misconception that illegal immigrants don’t pay taxes. More info here. You’re right that they do tend to receive food stamps, mostly on account of their kids (who often are American citizens). But they rarely get other forms of government aid because they’re too afraid of being deported to apply.
😆 That is a great one!!Blessings,Angie
