After a chimney fire in the wee hours last night, I am very glad that dh is on his way home! They should arrive midafternoon tomorrow. Prayers for their safety while driving~

Debbie at My_Pondering_Place gave me the idea to have several things to focus on each day. I have a tendency to get hooked on one thing and lose track of everything else, and I’m hoping that if I have a very general list, then I can make sure I get at least something done in each category.

Time with Abba This is an area I’ve been struggling with lately. I’ve been going through a dry spell, getting little out of my quiet time, and half the time skipping it, and today when I opened e-sword, this is what was staring me in the face:

Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai… And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. Exo 34:4-5

Um, I think maybe I’m getting some vibes that God likes us to rise early in the morning to deliberately spend time with Him. Ouch. There is no doubt that I am arising from my bed of slumber at the last possible minute.

Food I have some piecrusts ready to roll out. I am making dh’s favorite pie and I plan to have it with homemade ice cream tomorrow night. It is going to be SO good to have him home again!

Clothes I actually did the laundry today. I planned to the past two days, but forgot. Now if only it was all put away…

Home We are getting guests Saturday night, so this is a priority. I cleaned off this desk, which makes an amazing difference. It looks so…BARE! Now if we could just get to the school table and the sewing table.

Physical appearance I’m reading a book that recommended spending an hour a day on physical appearance, and that really threw me for a loop! I occasionally spend as much as half an hour, but that would be rare. Considering it, I decided that it probably wouldn’t’t hurt me to spend a little more time on exercising, lotioning, and such, even though they’re really boring. I washed my face, got dressed, and combed my hair this morning–took me no more than ten minutes. Maybe tonight I can get motivated enough to put lotion on my hands and feet so that they won’t snag on everything. Exercise? Mmmm Maybe tomorrow.

Children We’re reading a biography of Abraham Lincoln in school, and I learned today what happened to the Whig party. I had always wondered why a strong political party would just suddenly disappear, and it seems that they had a major division over slavery. The Republican Party was formed as an anti-slavery presence, and Lincoln, though sticking with the Whigs for awhile, eventually switched to the Republicans. Another book we’re reading is Shades of Gray. Great story so far about the conflicts between a Virginia family who had very different views of the war.

Reading A friend loaned me a really beautiful book called Noah’s Ark, which we’ve been browsing. It has the most incredibly beautiful drawings of all kinds of animals, and lots of notes and interesting facts about the animals, about his drawing, about the ark. One of the coolest books ever.

And since I had a very late and restless night last night, I am really going to TRY to go to bed very soon.

Blessings~

About dayuntoday

I'm a wonderer. I spend a lot of time mulling, pondering, and cogitating. This is just a place to park some of those thoughts.

I think we have the Noah’s ark book that you talked about too! It is probly the most neatest book I’ve ever seen about the Ark… and yes, the pictures are completely beautiful!! 🙂

  5. For some reason, the column on the left of my xanga doesn’t always show me when someone’s updated, so I missed a bunch of your posts.  I had to go back and read several days worth, which was fun!  I do the same thing when my husband’s gone — I stay up really late, live on a night-person schedule, and don’t cook.  (My husband said to me once “so if you weren’t married you would eat out every meal?” and I said “uh… yeah!” )
I’m glad nothing serious happened with the chimney fire.  (New meaning to the word “homefire”, huh?)  That would freak me out!  Not long after we’d moved into our current home, dh went on one of trips and I was suddenly inspired to locate every fire extinguisher in the building.  (We live on a campground and our house is connected to a couple guest rooms, so there were 3 fire extinguishers total.)

RYC:  I never really noticed either or cared that it was the grim reaper ~ I got the sundial as a gift and I had been wanting on with that saying on it.
My quiet time has been slacking too ~ I feel so guilty about it.  Get up even earlier, fwren ~ get myself in gear!

Chimney fire?? That’s bad! …but then you likely knew that already. I hope it’s a happy reunion today!

  8. An HOUR a day? That seems a bit much. I like to look nice, and sometimes I think I spend more than my fair share, but I don’t spend seven hours a week! (Unless you count reading in the bathtub, which I don’t.) What are you supposed to do for that length of time? Frost your leg hairs?

  9. To get by without dryer sheets — use those dryer balls! You know, those two little blue balls you see in the drug stores/walmart/target/etc. 🙂 They cost, I believe, around $10 but you TOTALLY get your money’s worth out of them. Plus, they are nontoxic!

I’m saying one basic thing, broken down as follows:

    <LI class=MsoNormal style=”MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in”>There should be a second witness, especially if the teaching of a ‘cloth head covering’ is as important as some people claim.
    <LI class=MsoNormal style=”MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in”>1Peter 2&3 contains enough parallel thoughts in chronology to 1Corinthians 11 that these parallel thoughts warrant consideration for the discussion.
<LI class=MsoNormal style=”MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in”>In the middle of these parallels Peter makes a point of saying the “adorning” is internal rather than external.  I think this point of Peter’s deserves a part in the discussion.

🙄 Sorry about the html or whatever made my neat little outline look like proof for evolution…  you can read it on the bottom of my post, if you wish.

All good stuff.  It can be invigerating (sp?) to start a new system.  I find I need to tweak mine every few months.

What kind of pie is the favorite?

An hour on physical appearance?  That’s a long time, though if you’re counting exercise, it would be good.  Who can do it with kids though?
